ORGANIZING INSTITUTION AND VENUE

The Glottodrama Academy is a network of teaching institutions which recently moved its main office from Rome to Fermo in the Marche Region. Today the Glottodrama Academy is part of the University College San Domenico. The college is located in a magnificent and ancient building in the heart of city centre. The town of  Fermo is a medieval “pearl” full of art and history and it is placed on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Coast. OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
The 2-week course provides a unique opportunity to improve the students’ knowledge of Italian language through a learning experience totally drama-based. The Glottodrama is a new methodology to teach foreign languages through acting implemented with the support of EU Lifelong Learning Programme: www.glottodrama.eu.
The method, which integrates drama techniques in language teaching, shares the principles of the communicative approach and propose an original CLIL solution strongly action-oriented. In other words language learning is combined with the improvement of acting skills. Public speaking is the main ability targeted by this course that is not aimed at training professional actors. It is addresses to all those students who wish to gain, first of all, an advanced command of both verbal and not verbal aspects of oral communication overcoming any psychological barrier (fluency, pronunciation, body language, pragmatic effectiveness…).
The method has been successfully tested by several educational institutions in 8 European countries with excellent results in terms of improvement of both oral and written skills. Today it is applied with the support of pedagogic materials to the teaching of 9 idioms as FL/L2: English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Romanian, Bulgarian, Greek and Turkish.
Moreover, thanks to the excellent results achieved by the project, the Glottodrama has been awarded twice with the European Language Label (2010- 2014) and the derived training courses for teachers have received the Ginco Award (2012) as best practice in validation. We offer also training courses for teachers who want to apply the method and sessions are available both before and after this language course. Discounted fees for those who attend both courses.

PROGRAMME
Every session of the course lasts 2 weeks and provides 40 hours of class tuition divided into 10 lessons of 4 hours each (Monday to Friday) plus some individual homework to be exploited in the following lesson (flipped classroom approach). Italian is the target language.
Candidates will be involved in acting activities “on stage” aimed at improving above all the oral command of Italian language. The objective of this “project work” is the production of a final acting perfomance in Italian that will be recorded in the format of a video clip. This audiovisual evidence of the work done will be given to all candidates.
An attendance certificate will be issued to candidates along with the Mobility Europass upon request.
Minimum standard of language knowledge: A1/A2 level of the CEFR.

CULTURAL AND SOCIAL PROGRAMME
The experience of learning a language on site means always to access also a cultural environment: arts, cinema, music, architecture, fashion, cooking and in general what we call “Italian lifestyle”. Therefore a rich programme of beach activities, guided visits, excursions, food and wine tastings and social events is organized in the afternoons and in the evenings. These activities complete and make more enjoyable the Glottodrama learning experience. Each year the cultural and social programme changes according to the seasonal events and therefore we fix and send it to all registered students only a few weeks before the starting date.

ACCOMMODATION IN FERMO
We have an agreement with a  Hotel*** in Fermo. Our students can profit by a special offer during their stay: double room (B&B), Single Use Euro 40 per night, 2 occupants 60 Euro per night. In order to get this discounted rate, we need to make a pre-booking for you quite in advance. You will pay the room directly to the hotel.

TRANSPORTS
Fermo is very well connected with Rome and its airports. There is a direct bus from and to Fiumicino Airport; a direct bus from Railway Station Tiburtina (underground Stop Line B) to and from Fermo. Both journeys take approximately 3 hours. Moreover you can choose to reach Fermo by train (Stop in Porto San Giorgio) or by car via motorway

HOW TO APPLY
Choose your favourite session and apply by email to our office or download the registration form and the regulations from the website. Upon receiving an international transfer of the deposit due (Euro 100) we will finalize your pre-registration and secure a place in the chosen course. In any case the entire balance of the fees must be settled down at least 15 days before the starting date of the chosen course. Please take note that the organizer can cancel a course session if a minimum number of candidates is not registered. In this case, the whole amount paid is fully reimbursed. Therefore you should always wait until you receive from our office a final confirmation of the chosen session before booking flights and accommodation.
